Situated in Mugu district, Karnali Zone, Western Nepal Rara Lake is the biggest and largest lake in Nepal. Its incredible beauty leaves anyone speechless. The lake is also known as Mahendra Daha, named after the late king. It covers an area of 10.8 Km square located in the altitude of 2890m. Actually, the region around Jumla and Rara Lake is still considered to be relatively unexplored.

Rara Lake can almost be called sacred because of its spectacular beauty; people say it’s almost like seeing heaven. Rara Lake is protected by the Rara national park which also consist many amazing wildlife such as the Himalayan Black Bear, Black Panther, Leopard, Musk Deer, Wild Boar, Red Panda, Rhesus, and Languor Monkeys along with numerous species of birds.

On the record, this is also a great chance to have close look on the village cultures and their authentic lifestyle. Anyone who is looking for seeking thrill and good adventure should definitely be a part of it. You can explore amazingly diverse Himalayan vegetation and beautiful valleys along comes some outstanding views of the Dolpo and the surrounding mountains.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Our office representative will be waiting for you at the airport terminal gate to accompany you to your designated hotel of choice. After you reach your hotel you can either travel a bit around the city or recover from your journey.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing and trek preparation.
Today we have a guided tour around the Kathmandu valley after your breakfast; Kathmandu is bestowed with popular landmarks and renowned National Heritages. The ones we’ll be setting our foot on are Pashupatinath (Lord Shiva Shrine), Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) and the Buddhists holy place Bouddhanath which is known to have one of the largest stupa in the world. Later we visit Durbar square and public areas to get lost in the crowds. We have a small meeting to prepare for our trek at the end of the day.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj
Today, we will take our domestic flight to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu. Then, we will explore the Nepalgunj city and stay at the hotel overnight.

Day 04: Fly from Nepalgunj – Jumla (2370m) and trek to Uthugaun (2530m)
We’ll have to catch another flight to Jhupal which takes around 45 minutes and the hike up to Padmara Valley then we follow a river until we arrive at a small village name Uthugaun where will be our campsite.

Day 05: Trek from Uthugaun to Danphe Lagna (3500m)
We have our early morning breakfast than we start our hike to Danphe Langa leaving Uthugaun behind. We then climb to Khali Lagna pass (3550m) through the deep pine forest. After we pass this area we slowly descend down to our next campsite at Danphe Lagna.

Day 06: Danphe Lagna to Chautha (2770m)
Our destination today is Chautha, we hike downhill through fir and bamboo forest and after crossing sever suspension bridges we follow a river downstream then momentarily follow the huge overhanging rocks to finally reach Bhara Village. After reaching here we catch our breath for a while then slowly descend to Chautha.

Day 07: Trek from Chautha to Dhotu
Our trial is quite decent today we follow the stream uphill to Bhulbule which the entry point of Rara National Park (3130m). We continue our climb steadily towards Ghurchu Lagna pass (3450). From the pass we slowly hike downhill to a village settlement tackling through spruce forest before finally reaching our campsite “Dhotu village”.

Day 08: Trek from Dhotu to Rara Lake (2980m)
Today is going to be yet another decent walk with fine views of the overall surrounding while we traverse north crossing farm lands and high ridges. Eventually we will reach Thakuri Village of Jhyari. Than we climb steadily up through cedar forest to a huge meadow with outstanding views of Rara Lake.

Day 09: Exploration Day at Rara Lake
Today will be exploring the Rara Lake after our morning breakfast. We will visit all around Rara Lake which is almost 13km. We can find Otter and different kinds of fishes in the lake. Also we will be setting our foots on the old village of Rara where we can also climb up to the wooden observation tower behind the post office for fine views of the lake and surrounding hills. Later we will visit the National Park Headquarters. In fact, swimming allowed in the lake and it’s all refreshing and perfect way for acclimatization.

Day 10: Trek from Rara Lake to Gorusingha (3190m)
We will head to Majhghatta via Khatyar Khola from the western end of the lake. Then we will hike down with the river and then climb hill through the vast rhododendron forest. After 5 hours of walking you will reach at Gorusingha.

Day 11: Trek from Gorushingha to Sinja (2440m)
Today, we will follow the Sinja Khola downstream to the Sinja. After that, we will be following a varied trail with scenic views climbs Lumsa. After approx. 5 hours of trek, we reach at Sinja where there is an Old Malla Durbar and Tripura Sundari Temple. We will stay overnight at Sinja.

Day 12: Trek from Sinja to Jaljala Chaur (3270m)
From Sinja, we then cross the Sinja Khola on a wooden cantilever bridge and we then start a long trip up to the Dhubi Khola. Just after passing a few villages, we cross back and forth across the river on a series of bridges. The trek of approx. 6 hours will bring us to Jaljala Chaur for our overnight stay.

Day 13: Trek from Jaljala Chaur to Jumla (2370m)
We will hike to Jumla today passing via rhododendron forest below the high ridges. The descent will be quite calm and won’t be strenuous. We will camp in Jumla.

Day 14: Fly from Jumla to Nepalgunj to Kathmandu
We will have an early morning awesome flight from Jumla to Nepagunj. On arrival at Nepalgunj, you then will connect to the scheduled flight to Kathmandu today. After arriving at Kathmandu you will be escorted back to your hotel. You are free to spend your remaining time as you want.

Day 15: Final Departure from Kathmandu
Our company member will escort you to the International airport. Have a safe journey and we hope to see you again!
